Seems Like Jacob Parrish May Play Some Outside Corner Against Atlanta

September 6th, 2025

Rookie Jacob Parrish is not just a slot corner.

Joe knows there are Bucs fans panting over the possibility that starting cornerback Jamel Dean is benched or waved goodbye.

So when Joe read the following quotes from Bucs coach Todd Bowles yesterday, it made Joe wonder what’s up?

Now Bowles likes players who can multitask. And maybe this is why Bowles talked about playing rookie corner Jacob Parrish elsewhere in the secondary other than nickel corner, where the Bucs have him tentatively plugged in as the starter.

Christian Izien (oblique injury) is one of the two Bucs defensive backs out for Sunday against the Dixie Chicks. And while in the past Bowles has noted Parrish can play outside corner or nickel, Joe is wondering if Bowles will give Parrish a spin at safety for a couple of plays.

After discussing the potential lack of healthy defensive backs, Bowles was asked if Parrish will play slot corner.

“This week, yes – at times,” Bowles said. “It won’t be all the time, but depending on the package, yes.”

Hhhmmm? So if Parrish doesn’t play all the snaps at nickel, that leaves outside corner or safety.

When Bowles was asked about depth at outside corner, Bowles again brought up Parrish.

“It would probably be [Jacob] Parrish,” Bowles said who would replace Zyon McCollum or Dean if they get hurt. “We’ve got to juggle around the nickel [cornerback] spot.”

Joe hopes Parrish is on the field a lot Sunday. He just makes plays and always seems to be around the ball. He’s the kind of guy you don’t ever want to take off the field.

Joe thinks Parrish is going to be a helluva player.
