Omar Marmoush says he really wishes he’d played with midfielder Pep Guardiola released at Man…

Omar Marmoush has revealed that he wishes he had played with a player Pep Guardiola allowed to leave Man City for free.

The Egyptian has been a hit at the Etihad Stadium ever since his arrival in January, with Guardiola praising the impact Marmoush had on his squad upon joining the Premier League giants last season.

The current campaign has not started off the way the 26-year-old would have wanted, as Man City have lost two of their three opening matches, with the forward failing to score while he has produced just one assist.

That might look a little different if Guardiola had one of his former stars in his current squad, as Marmoush has named the player as someone he has always wished to play alongside.

Omar Marmoush wishes he had played with Yaya Toure

Many fans and pundits rate Yaya Toure very highly following his time at Man City, with the midfielder viewed as one of the greatest to ever have played in the Premier League.

Toure featured 316 times for the Manchester club, scoring 80 goals and assisting a further 45, on his way to winning every trophy possible in England, before Guardiola allowed him to leave for free in 2018.

When asked what player he wished he could play with during his career by TNT Sports, Marmoush named Toure as his pick.

Patrick Vieira recently revealed just how good Toure really was, and the midfielder would be a very useful weapon for Man City to have at present.

The Ivorian would certainly help Marmoush get his numbers up as the midfielder was a big goalscoring threat from the middle of the park, while he also had the creative ability to provide for his teammates.

Omar Marmoush gets on the scoresheet for Egypt

With Marmoush yet to score for Man City this season, fans of the Manchester club will be glad to hear that the forward got on the scoresheet for Egypt on Friday in their 2-0 win over Ethiopia.

The 26-year-old scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 after Mohamed Salah handed him the ball to help score his first World Cup qualifying goal.

This could help boost Marmoush’s confidence ahead of Man City’s next game against Man United, with Egypt’s upcoming contest against Burkina Faso on Tuesday being another opportunity for the City star to add to his tally.
