Exclusive: The two European 'giants' who made contact to sign Everton's Jordan Pickford this…

Everton are preparing talks to offer Jordan Pickford a new and improved deal.

On the back of a successful summer in the transfer window, Everton are keen to keep the ball rolling behind the scenes at Finch Farm.

David Moyes was delighted with Everton’s transfer business having secured some huge additions in Tyler Dibling and Jack Grealish.

It was a hugely important summer for the Blues, with The Friedkin Group finally able to splash some of their cash.

Everton News understands that Everton were keen to sign two defenders in the final hours of deadline day on Monday.

That did not transpire, but the feel good mood around Finch Farm is set to continue, with Everton News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey sharing the very latest on Pickford’s future.

Everton shunned Fenerbahce and Galatasaray interest in Jordan Pickford

Following another strong season from the 31-year-old, Everton are keen to hand Pickford a new deal to reward him for his service.

Pickford is now playing into the final two years of his current deal on Merseyside, but the club are keen to offer him new terms.

Speaking to Everton News, Bailey has shared his understanding of interest coming from abroad during the summer in the England number one.

“The Saudi Pro League made enquiries early in the summer, whilst it is also understood that Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray also made contact via intermediaries,” said the Everton News transfer correspondent.

“However, we understand that it was made clear to the interested parties that Pickford was not on the market as he was preparing to commit his future to Everton.”

Pickford is in talks over a major contract extension and Everton News is told that it will be the largest contract in the club’s history.

“Pickford has made it clear that he wants to stay, he has been very impressed with the owners since they came in, it is the place he wants to be and is very happy with how things are going,” Bailey added.

Jordan Pickford is happy playing for David Moyes at Everton

The Friedkin Group view Pickford as crucial to their big ambitions, with the club targeting a return to European football.

Keeping their best players has proven a real issue in recent years on Merseyside due to the financial issues the club has endured.

With the Friedkins in charge, that is now a thing of the past, with Everton rejecting an approach for Iliman Ndiaye already this year.

Brighter times are on the horizon for the Blues, and Pickford has already shared his delight in working under Moyes at Everton.

“I think there were a lot of positives towards the back end of 2024 – with the new owners coming in and giving stability to the club, the new stadium, the new gaffer, as well. With the manager coming in, we’ve done really well,” he told the Everton website earlier this year.

“It’s about staying well, getting better and improving as a team – and going into next season firing again and getting off to a good start because the past few years we haven’t done that.

“I think this manager will demand a good start and demand us to get wins on the board and performances.”
