The Cleveland Browns were linked to Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. for much of the pre-draft process, and they wound up selecting him at the top of the third round. What exactly are the Browns getting in their new weapon, and what kind of a player does his tape show?
Out of the 13 games that Fannin played in during the 2024 season, his outing against Toledo was his fourth-least-productive from a receiving yardage standpoint, as he caught six of his eight targets for 74 yards and one touchdown. Despite the lower-than-typical statistical output, Fannin was still excellent, as usual. The Falcons were victorious in The Battle of I-75, making Fannin 2/3 over the Rockets for his career.
Bowling Green totaled 215 yards on the ground for the game, and that was partly due to Fannin's effectiveness as a run blocker. In the first clip below, he's lined up on the left side, quickly engages with the boundary corner, and stays engaged, ultimately tossing him to the ground. Two other defenders closed in on the quarterback to prevent a touchdown, but Fannin did his job perfectly on that play. In the second clip, he again stays engaged with the corner, keeping his feet moving and driving his man downfield through the whistle. In clip #3, he walls off the edge defender, allowing the jet sweep to get to the edge for a nice gain.
