Arsenal remain firm on future of Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli has been under the spotlight regarding his future with Arsenal considering the player into their future plans.

Arsenal summer business and the Martinelli question

**Arsenal**’s summer window was a busy one, filled with arrivals, exits, and plenty of last-minute chatter. Mikel Arteta managed to add quality with several new signings. It also created some dilemmas for the Gunners in terms of players already in the squad.

Injuries across the team meant that the club had to make a call on who could be moved on, and who had to stay. The one name that was impossible to escape the headlines was Gabriel Martinelli.

The winger gained quite attention from clubs all over Europe over the summer. But, he seems to be part of the team for now, given his talent within the squad.

Why the winger remains in North London

Ultimately, Arsenal solidified their price for the Brazilian at somewhere around £60m. While interested teams were rumored to have been circling, they were also rumored to be unwilling to spend over £40m.

The other clubs’ price point was nowhere near the valuation. Then, since he has the contract until 2027, the Gunners had no real reason to sell him. And Martinelli hasn’t really said he wants to leave anyways.

Although, the player has only started two times this season. He is still looking for his first goal, there is little doubt his importance to Arteta’s system is clear. So, having him around, as the season unfolds might be huge to his plans.

The club might see offers come back in the January market, or possibly next summer market. But, the north London side’s continued stance has been clear. Martinelli is going nowhere, unless we get the right price for him.

Author’s Opinion:

Holding on to Martinelli was the smart move. Selling him on the cheap would’ve made no sense, especially with Arsenal needing attacking depth. He may not have started the season flying, but his value to the team will show in the months ahead.
