Kare sports anchor Reggie Wilson says his role is being eliminated

Reggie Wilson, sports director and sports anchor for KARE 11, will be departing the station at the end of the year.

Wilson, who joined the NBC affiliate in 2021, said the station is eliminating the position of sports director and that his last day will be Dec. 31.

His wife, Alexis Rogers, had been an anchor and community relations manager at KARE for less than two years before being let go this past January.

“It’s not easy navigating layoffs, especially considering my wife and I are both enduring job losses at KARE in the same year,” Wilson posted on LinkedIn on Thursday. “Now with a newborn at home, the stakes are raised.”

Wilson came to the Twin Cities to [replace Eric Perkins](https://www.startribune.com/kare-11-names-reggie-wilson-as-eric-perkins-replacement/600087215), who left in August 2021 after a 25-year run at KARE. Wilson had previously worked in Cincinnati, Dodge City, Kan., and Dayton, Ohio.

In his LinkedIn posting, Wilson said he’s looking for new opportunities to host, interview top athletes and do “dynamic storytelling.”

KARE management declined to comment.
