Ruben Amorim's squad may be slightly smaller when the Premier League resumes after the international break.

Manchester United have reportedly ‘agreed’ to let a player leave the club despite the English transfer window having already shut.

On September 1, the English transfer window slammed shut after what was a truly entertaining summer of deals.

United’s arch-rivals Liverpool spent a record £446m on stars such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and a British record £125m on Alexander Isak.

Overall, Premier League clubs spent a combined £3.19bn to bolster their squads, eclipsing the previous record.

And United were among the big spenders.

The Red Devils spent around £215m on the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens this summer, while Antony, Marcus Rashford (loan), Rasmus Hojlund (loan) and Alejandro Garnacho departed Old Trafford.

And just when Ruben Amorim thought he knew who he’d be working with until the January window, the club have reportedly agreed to let a player leave on loan.

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has yet to feature in the Premier League this term, has been the subject of an approach from Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Romano wrote on X: “Trabzonspor reach verbal agreement with Manchester United to sign André Onana on loan. Club-to-club verbal agreement in place, and final decision now up to Onana. It’s only up to the goalkeeper.”

Onana has endured a tough time at United since arriving from Inter in 2023.

Several high-profile errors have caused Amorim to give usual second-choice Altay Bayindir an opportunity in the first three league fixtures of the 2025/26 campaign, limiting the Cameroon international to a solitary appearance against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup second round.

Onana is contracted to United until June 2028.
