South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has impressed over the last year as a starter, and now that he is seen as one of the top 2026 NFL Draft quarterbacks, more people are taking attention.
That includes ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, who sees Sellers as an uber-talented player, comparing him to Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger.
“He is Big Ben, but faster,” Orlovsky said. “He’s 6-foot-3, 235 pounds. A tremendous athlete, but the ability that he has shown to throw the ball downfield has grown. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in football.”
Sellers is coming off a strong start to his career with the Gamecocks, and his electric ability to turn nothing into something, as well as boasting a rocket arm, make his natural tools intriguing. His first game of the season against Virginia Tech only reinforced that.
The Steelers’ first attempt at drafting a quarterback in the first round was Kenny Pickett, who had average tools but elite intangibles. Sellers brings in physical tools, along with intangibles, and with a strong year in 2025, is a likely Top-10 pick.
The Steelers have the draft capital to make a move up the board; however, with their accumulation of compensatory picks and most of their 2027 draft capital, too.
