Report: Bears QB Caleb Williams Facing Difficult Off the Field Condition

Caleb Williams is facing a key season with the Chicago Bears in 2025. The team needs to see him take his game to the next level under new head coach Ben Johnson and they need him to prove that he can lead the franchise moving forward.

After taking Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the young signal caller put together a decent rookie year. He showed flashes of the star potential that made the Bears take him at the top of the draft. However, there were areas where he struggled and he was sacked 68 times.

Throughout the course of the 2025 offseason, plenty of reports and videos have come out about Williams' struggles. That has led to some concern about his long-term status with the team.

Now, a new report has shared that Williams deals with a difficult off the field condition.

According to a report from Tyler Dunne of Go Long, Williams deals with a learning disability. He also revealed that some sources have shared that Williams seems to have dyslexia.

"That early, coaches could sense that he'd struggle with basic huddle calls and forget to motion players," Dunne wrote. "And it wasn't until later — right around that second-to-last game of the season — that coaches say they learned their quarterback had a learning disability. Multiple Bears sources tell Go Long they've seen evidence that Williams has dyslexia. They also believe that the GM, who has access to everything, was well aware of this condition before the Bears made the quarterback their first overall pick."

Being a quarterback in the NFL is difficult. Having a learning disability or dyslexia would make that job much harder.

Despite the disability, Chicago firmly believes that Williams can be the player it builds around long-term. There is no denying his arm talent and physical ability. Everything will be about whether or not he can learn the non-physical things.

With that being said, the Bears will begin their 2025 season on Monday Night Football with a home matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams will have his first chance this year to quiet the doubters.

It will be interesting to see if he's able to do that. Should he struggle, the concerns will grow much louder and the pressure will begin to mount quickly.
