Caramel Buffalo, Peanut Teriyaki and Chocolate Barbecue sauces? What was Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Snickers thinking?
That was my first thought when Snickers announced the limited-edition sauces featuring Allen, as none of the combinations sounded overly appealing. However, as the old saying goes, don’t knock it until you try it.
Snickers was kind enough to send a pack of the sauces my way, and after giving them a try, I have a confession to make.
The sauces are shockingly good.
Here are my reviews on all three flavors:
Snickers Caramel Buffalo Sauce: 9.5/10
This was the clear winner of the three flavors due to its versatility. After simply sampling the flavors by themselves and on a wavy potato chip, I used the Snickers Caramel Buffalo Sauce on a slice of pizza, in my popcorn and with my scrambled eggs.
This is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The caramel flavor comes in first and then you are hit with the heat of the Buffalo sauce.
Snickers Peanut Teriyaki Sauce: 8.5/10
Unlike the Snickers Caramel Buffalo Sauce, I thought that the peanut and teriyaki flavors hit simultaneously. This is a creamy sauce that includes small bits of Snickers peanuts in it.
I tried this sauce on a piece of chicken, and it was excellent. This sauce would be outstanding in a stir-fry as well.
Snickers Chocolate Barbecue Sauce: 7.5/10
Let me start by saying that the flavor of the sauce is very good. Sometimes I taste chocolate first before the barbecue flavor hits and other times it was the other way around. My only issue with this sauce was the thickness. After refrigerating it, the sauce came out with the consistency of a frosting.
I plan to try this sauce on ribs and brisket in the near future. While the flavor is good, I’m not sure that it has the versatility of the other two flavors.
Do you want to try the flavors? You’re in luck if you’re heading to tomorrow’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the Bills and Baltimore Ravens.
