Leeds United have signed a lot of players this summer, and fans are excited to see how the season goes. But the end to the transfer is something many are unhappy about.
The club’s ownership has taken a lot of criticism, after managing director Robbie Evans answered questions from local media during the week. Sometimes, transfers are never that straight forward and in some rare cases, legal issues are involved.

This is something Leeds fans will not like to hear again after the Jean-Kevin Augustin. The French forward was involved in a dispute including himself, Leeds United and Red Bull Leipzig. FIFA and the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) ruled in favour of Augustin, and Leeds had to pay the full transfer fee to Leipzig as well as settle the player’s wages for the period.

Now, another Leeds United star is set for a court case, but not in a similar fashion. Summer signing Lucas Perri has filed a lawsuit in Brazil’s Labor Court against former club Botafogo. Ge Global are reporting that the keeper is demanding R$2.8m, around £350,000 from his former club.
Perri, who starred for Botafogo between 2022 and 2023, filed a lawsuit in the 65th Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro last Thursday demanding R$2,834,964.68 from Botafogo for ‘labour debts’. The initial hearing has been scheduled for November 5th 2025. The lawsuit involves fees for image rights, FGTS (Unemployment Fund for Workers’ Severance Fund), and outstanding severance pay.
Does this affect Leeds?
This lawsuit seems to be squarely between the player and his former club over unpaid fees. Leeds United will not be involved at any point in time, as they signed the player from Lyon and not Botafogo. So there will be no repercussions for the Whites despite the fact that he is currently under contract with the team.
The only thing that could happen is Daniel Farke leaving him out of the squad around the time of the hearing if there are games on the schedule. That will be in order to keep the Brazilian from being distracted while on the field.
