Report: Tottenham preparing 'massive' £87m bid to sign Brazilian star ahead of January

Tottenham are preparing a ‘massive’ €100m (£87m) bid to sign Manchester City winger Savinho next year, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The North London side targeted a move for the 21-year-old Brazil international during the closing stages of the summer transfer window but saw their efforts rebuffed, with City reluctant to sell.

Savinho’s late departure would have forced Pep Guardiola’s side into the market for a replacement and, with limited time left, City refused to entertain any talks.

However, Fichajes claims Spurs are not giving up on landing Savinho in 2026 and are ‘willing to give everything’ to secure the former Girona forward in 2026.

The Lilywhites are believed to be readying a proposal worth an €80m fixed fee plus €20m in add-ons, which would make Savinho their most expensive signing ever, surpassing Dominic Solanke’s £65m move from Bournemouth last year.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham view Savinho as a crucial signing to help the club compete at the top of the Premier League following a difficult 2024/25 campaign.

The North London side finished just 17th in the table under Ange Postecoglou and parted ways with the Australian as a result, with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank taking charge.

The summer window saw Spurs significantly upgrade their attacking options, with Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani arriving, while a permanent deal was also struck for Mathys Tel.

The Lilywhites further strengthened by signing Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich and making Kevin Danso’s move from Lens permanent.

Savinho has yet to play for City this campaign after missing the start of 2025/26 with a pre-season injury but is expected to return following the international break.

The Brazil international is believed to have been keen on a summer move to Spurs and was viewed as a replacement for former captain Son Heung-min, who departed for MLS side Los Angeles FC.

Savinho joined Man City from French side Troyes last summer and is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.

He made 21 Premier League starts for City last term, scoring his only goal in the 2-0 away win at Leicester.
