Shock Move: Bournemouth Working Out ‘Final Details’ to Sell One of Premier League’s ‘Best Talents’

The Premier League transfer window has been shut for five days now, but there are still a few leagues in Europe where transfers can be made. For example, the Saudi Pro League window does not close until September 23, perhaps in a tactical move to help them pick up more top-five league players who are desperate for a move. Meanwhile, both Turkey and Greece’s windows are open until September 12, and Bournemouth are currently negotiating with Olympiacos over a move for Zain Silcott-Duberry.

Bournemouth Negotiating Sale of Zain Silcott-Duberry After Eight Months

Set to Travel on Monday

Mark McAdam has revealed that Bournemouth are in “advanced talks” with Olympiacos over this transfer. This will come as a shock to many, particularly as it is a permanent sale. Silcott-Duberry only joined the Cherries from Chelsea in January, eight months ago. In fairness, there was no initial fee, though the Blues inserted a sell-on clause and performance-based add-ons.

He is set to travel to Greece on Monday, as long as “final details” are agreed between the two clubs, which are being worked out now. It is unclear how regular a role the forward will have in Piraeus.

A Strange Transfer

Despite the Cherries not really paying any money for the 20-year-old, this is still a strange transfer. Whilst Silcott-Duberry only played two matches for Bournemouth, once in the league and once in the FA Cup, he clearly has high potential, being labelled as one of the “best talents” in the Premier League (and the best at Chelsea) in 2021.

Bournemouth have a great track record for developing young players, with Dean Huijsen securing a move to Real Madrid after just a year, at 20-years-old. Other examples include Illia Zabarnyi (now at PSG) and Milos Kerkez (now at Liverpool). A loan move to gain some experience, with the opportunity to try and break into the team in a year’s time may have been smarter.

However, the hierarchy has rarely got things wrong since the takeover in 2022, and so it would be assumed that he was not showing signs of reaching this high ceiling on the South Coast.
