The £35m midfield ace Man United should move back in for in January transfer window - Opinion

Manchester United had a busy summer on the transfer front in the end under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have to wait until January to sign more players following the end of the summer window, unless they delved into the free agent market. It has been a busy past few months for Ruben Amorim’s side on the recruitment front. They have freshened up their ranks with signings like Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, among others.

The Red Devils also cut ties with players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Marcus Rashford to free up space and funds in their squad. They have four points on the board from their first three Premier League fixtures of the new season. Next up is a trip to the Etihad Stadium next weekend to play rivals Manchester City as they look to build on their win over Burnley last time out before the international break.

Manchester United wanted Angelo Stiller

According to CaughtOffside, United were ‘rejected’ by Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller. The Germany international, who has five caps to his name, decided to stay in the Bundesliga. He is under contract until June 2028.

Stiller, 24, has been a key player for his current club over recent times and they will be pleased to have kept hold of him beyond the deadline. However, they are likely to face a battle to keep hold of him further down the line amid attention from elsewhere. He is said to have a release clause of around £35million.

The Munich-born man started his career with local team TSV Milbertshofen. Bayern Munich came calling in 2010 and he rose up through their academy ranks. He was a regular for the German giants at various different youth levels as a youngster before breaking into their B team.

Stiller went on to play three times for the first-team during his time at the Allianz Arena. He wasn’t quite able to make the grade though and was subsequently sold on to Hoffenheim. His transfer to the PreZero Arena worked out well for him in the end though.

He enjoyed plenty of game time to boost his development and went on to make 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals. Stuttgart swooped in back in 2023 and he hasn’t looked back since. He has played 84 matches and has found the net on five occasions.

Manchester United should go back in for Angelo Stiller

United should try again for Stiller this winter. It appears he is being loyal to Stuttgart and may feel that he owes them something. However, it will get to a point where he needs to leave to make the next step.

If he joined the Red Devils, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. Amorim could still do with another option or two in that department to beef things up a bit. Stiller is someone who has shown his quality over in Germany and on the international stage.

United have to be smart with their business as they look to eventually catch up with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and City. Stiller is still young and has potential to get better in the future. If you look at Amorim’s current options in his position, most of them are right-footed like Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, whereas he is left-footed so would provide useful balance.

Time will tell whether the North West giants go back in for him. In the meantime, their focus will be on hitting some form after their victory over Burnley. City will be tough opponents but lost their last home outing against Tottenham Hotspur before they were beaten away at Brighton and Hove Albion.
