Turkish side reach agreement to sign Man United‘keeper

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has a difficult decision to make ahead of the Manchester derby later this month.

The Red Devils have struggled so far this season and both goalkeepers – namely Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir – have made notable errors leading to goals.

Turkey international Bayindir made an error against Arenal on the opening weekend, while Onana was at fault for one of Grimsby Town’s goals as they knocked United out of the Carabao Cup.

The Manchester club have since signed Senne Lammens from Belgian side Royal Antwerp, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Belgian will start against Manchester City.

With that in mind, it appears that one of United’s current goalkeepers could soon leave the club.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Turkish side Trabzonspor have reached a verbal agreement to sign Onana on loan from United for the rest of the current season.

The Cameroonian joined the Red Devils two years ago but has since struggled to maintain his best form, making a number of high profile errors that have often lead to goals conceded.

It is claimed that the 29-year-old – who hasn’t started any of United’s three Premier League games so far this term – is now set to make a decision on his future.

Onana has kept 24 clean sheets in 102 games for United since joining from Italian side Inter Milan in 2023.

The 48-time Cameroon international is under contract at Old Trafford until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears that he could spend the remainder of the current campaign in Turkey, where the transfer window remains open.
