Washington Commanders Linked to Big Trade That Jayden Daniels Would Love

Last season, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL. Not only did they make a run to the playoffs, they were also able to make a run in the postseason.

When all was said and done, the Commanders made it to the NFC Championship Game. Daniels was able to break out as a star in his rookie season and put Washington back on the map as a potential Super Bowl contender entering the upcoming 2025 NFL season.

Even though the team is already viewed as a contender, there are ways it could improve. One potential need could come at the tight end position.

Right now, the Commanders have Zach Ertz as their starting tight end. He’s still a very good player, but he isn’t getting any younger. Could the team consider looking into trading for a younger tight end to improve their offseason this year and be their long-term option at the position after Ertz is done?

That is exactly what one NFL analyst has suggested.

Washington Commanders Linked to Big Trade That Jayden Daniels Would Love

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggested Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet as one of the most likely trade candidates entering Week 1 of the 2025 season. If Kmet is placed on the trade block, Knox believes that Washington could make sense as a landing spot.

Knox also mentioned that the likely trade value for Kmet is around a fifth-round draft pick.

Kmet would be a very intriguing pickup for the Commanders. He is coming off of a 2024 NFL season with the Bears that saw him play in all 17 regular season games and catch 47 passes for 474 yards and four touchdowns. Back in 2023, however, he caught 73 passes for 719 yards and six touchdowns.

At just 26 years old, Kmet would be able to grow with Daniels. He’s got plenty of good years ahead of him.

While this is just an idea, it’s one that would make a lot of sense. If Washington wants to invest more into its young quarterback, Kmet could be one option to do just that.
