Real Madrid plot raid on Liverpool for 17-year-old breakout wonderkid

Real Madrid are considering the prospect of signing Liverpool’s highly rated teenager, Rio Ngumoha, on a free transfer next summer.

According to Fichajes, Rio Ngumoha has made a significant impact on Florentino Perez, who is already considering making a move for the 17-year-old breakout wonderkid. The highly-rated teenager is reportedly viewed as a strategic signing by Real Madrid, although Liverpool are already working hard to secure him on a long-term contract.

Lessons were learnt in the summer by Liverpool after they lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid for close to nothing. They are not keen to find themselves in yet another similar situation in the future with some of their key stars, although there is the prospect of Ibrahima Konate following his former teammate’s pathway into leaving Anfield for the Santiago Bernabeu on a Bosman move next summer.

Apart from the French defender, Real Madrid have now set their sights on another Liverpool star and one who is, at present, available on a free transfer next summer. Rio Ngumoha is the name on Florentino Perez’s list ahead of the next summer window, as there is a chance Real Madrid could make their presence felt in the market.

The teenager, who scored a fantastic late winner at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United, only recently turned 17 and has already impressed many top clubs. Real Madrid, who recently signed Franco Mastantuono, may view the 17-year-old breakout wonderkid as a key strategic target and regard him as a big investment for the future similar to the Argentine teenage star.

There is a distinct possibility of the Spanish giants entering the race for the 17-year-old breakout wonderkid, and they will probably put forward an offer for the youngster’s consideration. Signing Ngumoha won’t be easy for Perez, given Liverpool are intent on holding on to the teenager for the long-term future.

Liverpool to ramp up Rio Ngumoha contract talks

Liverpool are already holding talks with Ngumoha’s camp over a new deal, and it appears they are eager to tie the teenager for at least four more years. The prospect of losing the highly-rated teenager would come as a blow for the Merseyside outfit, especially if Real Madrid succeed in their pursuit.

Arne Slot has already given plenty of indications about handing the teenager important minutes in the current season, while also including him in their Champions League squad. Liverpool are widely expected to renew his stay, although the final decision to stay or leave will depend on the teenager himself, as well as on what sort of offers he has on the table.
