The Patriots made one downgrade Saturday for Sunday’s season opener against the Raiders at Gillette Stadium, ruling cornerback Charles Woods out. The 25-year-old, who was claimed off waivers late last month, has been on the injury report all week with a groin issue.
However, there were no downgrades or changes along the offensive line, which could speak to the level of faith they have in the health of rookie tackle Will Campbell, who popped up on the injury report this past week with an ankle issue.
In addition, the Patriots signed defensive tackle Cory Durden to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. The 6-foot-4-inch, 305-pound Durden, who has been with the Lions, Rams, and Giants, has played eight NFL games and has 13 tackles
New England also released defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr., and elevated defensive back Corey Ballentine and linebacker Mark Robinson from the practice squad.
