In an unprecedented evening of transfer deadline day drama on Monday, several deals failed to cross the finish line. However, don't be surprised if a number of these unfinished transactions are revisited this winter. Here are eight potential transfers that could be back on the table when the market reopens on January 1...
Marc Guehi to Liverpool
Marc Guehi's move to Liverpool was thwarted at the last minute as Crystal Palace were unable to find a replacement. January will be the final opportunity for the Eagles to recoup any sort of fee for the defender, and they certainly don't want to lose him on a free transfer.
The winter market will also provide them with additional time to find a suitable replacement.
Angelo Stiller to Man Utd
Manchester United's pursuit of Angelo Stiller fell short in the summer market despite late secret talks with the Stuttgart maestro.
This deal could definitely be revisited as the 24-year-old remains one of Europe's most promising midfielders. Any potential move would depend on Stuttgart's valuation of the German international.
Joao Palhinha to Tottenham
Joao Palhinha has made a strong impression in his first few weeks at Tottenham since joining on loan from Bayern Munich. Tottenham have the option to make the loan permanent for around £27m at the end of the season.
If the midfielder continues to impress, there's no reason why they won't look to secure his long-term future mid-season.
Conor Gallagher to Crystal Palace/Man Utd
Conor Gallagher's potential move to Manchester United was blocked by Atletico Madrid who were unwilling to let Gallagher leave so late in the window, particularly on an initial loan.
However, the England star needs consistent game time ahead of the World Cup and if he continues to be a sporadic feature in Diego Simeone's starting XI, a January move could be on the cards.
Crystal Palace are keen to bring back the 25-year-old, while United also tried a last-minute bid - both clubs are expected to maintain their interest.
Joe Gomez to AC Milan/Crystal Palace
If Liverpool manage to secure Marc Guehi in January, this could pave the way for Gomez to leave Anfield. He remains an important part of Arne Slot's team but if the price is right, Liverpool are unlikely to block his departure should he wish to seek a new challenge.
AC Milan made an offer but Palace could be an ideal destination if Gomez, who also attracted late interest from Brighton, prefers to remain in the Premier League.
Harry Wilson to Leeds
Harry Wilson was on the verge of a move to Leeds on deadline day but the deal fell through when Fulham's pursuit of Chelsea winger Tyrique George hit a snag.
Fulham activated a one-year extension on the Welshman's contract in May but it still runs out in 2026 - leaving the door open for a winter exit.
Leeds are still in need of a creative force and if Wilson doesn't agree to a new deal with Fulham in the coming months, he will be up for grabs in January.
Tyrique George to Fulham/Roma/RB Leipzig
Chelsea's Tyrique George's last-minute move across west London was scuppered by paperwork issues in the rush to beat the deadline.
However, his desire for regular football is unlikely to be fulfilled at Stamford Bridge. This late snag could open the door for European clubs such as Roma and RB Leipzig, who have both previously held discussions, to rejoin the race for his signature.
Ademola Lookman to Bayern Munich/Tottenham
Ademola Lookman submitted a transfer request at Atalanta but was unable to secure a move despite multiple offers from Inter Milan. Inter shifted their focus to other targets, but Bayern and Spurs showed interest in the Nigerian towards the end of the window.
Tottenham were unsuccessful in securing a left winger after selling Heung-min Son to LAFC, so this remains a potential market opportunity.
