Even after Bill Belichick secured his first win as a college football coach, the rift between himself and the New England Patriots continues to be a story. There have been questions raised about how one of the greatest coaches of all time has been dealing with NFL teams, specifically his former employer.
Let’s take a closer look at what happened, which seemingly shows the issues between the two sides have not been resolved.

Following his first collegiate win on Saturday against the Charlotte 49ers on the road 20-3, Bill Belichick spoke about the story regarding the program banning scouts from the New England Patriots to have access to the program.
“It’s clear I’m not welcome there at their facility. So they’re not welcome at ours. Very simple.”
According to Mike Florio, North Carolina general manager Mike Lombardi was the one to send the message to the New England Patriots.
This is just the most recent part of the drama between the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick, who won six Super Bowls as coach of the franchise before leaving ahead of the 2024 season. It appears on the outside that there is an issue between Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick, but the actual story has not been made.
For the other 31 NFL teams, Bill Belichick has also reportedly placed significant restrictions as they are allowed to watch three sessions from the Tar Heels’ practice and are not allowed to speak with coaches or staffers except for pro liason Frantzy Jourdain. Bill Belichick has a way he wants to run the North Carolina Tar Heels, and it will be interesting to see if the school is forced to lessen its restrictions going forward.
