The history and pride felt by Everton supporters towards Goodison Park has been captured in a new documentary.

The Toffees’ men’s team said farewell to its home of 133 years amid emotional scenes against Southampton at the end of last season. Evertonians are now creating new memories in the Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley Moore-Dock, with David Moyes’ side recording two wins out of two already this season.

Goodison remains the club’s spiritual home for fans, with some featuring in a special All Out Football documentary, brought to you by SkyBet. The documentary begins with Dave Bond, general manager of the Winslow Hotel, giving a tour of the pub that is part of the fabric of the club and its fanbase.

Former matchday announcer Graeme White sums up the feelings of thousands of Evertonians on that balmy day in May that marked the end of an era. He says: “Watching my final game was quite special and emotional. I had a few moments to think.

“I thought about my dad. I had a look up at the sky to think he’ll be looking down. We sung the songs, cheered, cried, then we said goodbye. It will take a lot of getting used to not coming to Goodison Park anymore.”

Professional photographer and diehard Evertonian Laura Gates, who took numerous moving images from the day, also features in the documentary. She spoke of the special connection between the club and its fanbase.

She says: “It’s so embedded into the local community and people’s families and people’s lives. Everton really is everything to a hell of a lot of people. It’s massive, it means everything.”

Super-fan Graeme Holmes, a veteran of more than 1,000 first-team home games and 100 Merseyside derbies, recounted that final day at Goodison. He says: “If you’ve never been to a football game before, walking up the steps, seeing the green pitch, it’s a great feeling. And when it’s you're own club, it’s even better.

The documentary features stirring scenes from the men's team's final game at Goodison

“Walking up there for the last game of the season was sad in a way because I knew it was going to be the last time. I got to ground at half eight in the morning for a 12.30 kick-off and you couldn’t walk around the ground due to the number of people. The atmosphere was believable. The match was secondary, it was more about the day.”

The documentary concludes with the start of the new era, with fans at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first match of the season against Brighton. One fan fittingly sums up the end of one era and the dawn of a new one.

He says: “It’s a case of adapting to the new future and making sure the new Hill Dickinson Stadium gives us as many fantastic matches, memories and players as much as what Goodison Park has given over the years.

“Goodison Park has gone for the men’s team. Everton has to create a new history, a new heritage at the new stadium. It’s onwards and upwards.”
