English fans and media have given their reaction to Marcus Rashford's first Three Lions start following his summer loan move to Barcelona. It has been a tough start to life at Camp Nou for the winger, with reports already emerging that Hansi Flick and the Barca hierarchy are considering terminating the 27-year-old's loan deal.
Despite that, Thomas Tuchel backed the forward from the get-go in the comfortable yet uninspiring 2-0 win over Andorra, before replacing him in the 68th minute with Anthony Gordon. But the near 70 minutes he spent on the pitch was enough for fans and journalists to make their minds up.

The overall reaction from the media regarding Rashford's performance tended to be one of disappointment. The winger was given a 6/10 rating from The Mirror in their analysis of the game at Villa Park, claiming that he had started well but faded as the game went on. The Sun went even harsher with their review, giving Rashford a five while saying that he "lacked the guile to cause problems."
The Guardian also gave him a 6/10, stating that the number 11 had "a lot of tricks, flicks and feints but none came off." Meanwhile, The Telegraph delved deeper into the Barca man's performance, claiming that Rashford may no longer suit the way Tuchel wants to play with England and instead suggested that he could be more of an impact player off the bench. An argument was even made that he would be better off playing centrally with a licence to drift wide, as opposed to starting on the wing and being kept there.
Rashford's rating was also brought down by the fact he missed his only big chance of the game - a rebound from an Eberechi Eze shot which flashed past the post.

There was plenty of reaction online to Rashford's performance too, with the England star drawing the ire of fans with his display. One took to X in response to say: "Marcus Rashford’s PR must be the best in history, because how he’s starting for England after the rubbish he’s served up recently is quite unbeatable." A second added: "If he can't perform against Andorra.. yeah he's done."
Another joked about the forward's match stats, saying: "1 nutmeg, 0 contributions against a part time side," with a fourth adding: "Rashford is rubbish, so poor in this game." A fifth gave an even more blunt description of Rashford's efforts, claiming the he "did a whole lot of nothing."
