Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt will reportedly continue keeping tabs on 22-year-old Danish striker William Osula at Newcastle United ahead of a possible winter move.
According to a report by Football Insider, William Osula is still the subject of interest of Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles were keen on securing the Newcastle United attacking prospect’s signature in the summer transfer window before a move failed to materialise. However, the Danish striker remains a target for the Bundesliga outfit.
Eintracht Frankfurt and “other interested clubs” will closely monitor Osula’s situation in the first half of the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Newcastle United will unlikely have any qualms about parting ways with the Dane this winter after being open to parting ways with him in the summer transfer window.
William Osula and an ill-advised Newcastle United move
William Osula has had to remain patient and bide his time since joining Newcastle United from Sheffield United last summer. The Aarhus native spent most of his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the youth division at Sheffield United. However, the move to Newcastle United has not been fulfilling thus far.
The 22-year-old has only 518 minutes of game time across 22 outings thus far for Newcastle United while chipping in with three goals and two assists. However, Osula’s long-term future at the Tyneside club is uncertain after they signed Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa. A summer departure from St. James’ Park was on the cards for the Danish striker.
What next?
Aston Villa attempted to sign William Osula in a deadline-day move in the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United open to sanctioning the deal. However, Eintracht Frankfurt came the closest to securing an agreement before a last-minute bid change scuppered a move.
The Bundesliga club initially wanted a permanent deal for Osula before submitting a loan-to-buy bid to Newcastle United. With time running out in the summer transfer window, a deal did not materialise, with the Dane remaining at St. James’ Park.
However, regular game time will elude Osula at Newcastle United, as Woltemade and Wissa will be ahead of him in the 2025/26 season. Eintracht Frankfurt and “other interested clubs” will continue to track the 22-year-old Danish striker, with Newcastle United open to a winter exit.
