We asked AI to predict the outcome of the Premier League this season based on every club’s business in the transfer window.
Arsenal are one of several teams that spent big this summer in the Premier League, they added Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Eberechi Eze among others. Liverpool and Chelsea also spent big, with the reigning champions adding Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
We got a glimpse of how close Arsenal and Liverpool are in the recent 1-0 win for the Reds at Anfield, but the likes of Chelsea and Man City will also have plenty to say on the title race this season.
With that in mind, we asked Chat GPT to simulate the Premier League table, taking into account all the transfer business over the summer, this is what it said….
20. Sunderland
Firstly is Sunderland, who as a newly promoted side, will likely be battling against relegation despite their string start to the new season under Regis Le Bris.
AI said that the Black Cats would struggle with the tempo of the Premier League, especially when facing some of the bigger clubs.
19. Bournemouth
Bournemouth lost some key names this summer, with Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid, Kepa Arizzabalaga joining Arsenal, Milos Kerkez joining Liverpool, and Ilya Zabarnyi joining PSG.
They have made an effort to replace the departed names, but AI thinks it won’t be enough to keep them in the Premier League.
18. Burnley
Much like Sunderland, the big issue here is that the Premier League is a huge step up compared to the Championship, and AI thinks that Burnley will also go straight back down under manager Scott Parker.
They also sold James Trafford to Man City, and Trafford was one of their key players last season in the Championship.
17. Leeds United
The only newly-promoted team that AI thinks will survive relegation, Leeds had a great start to the season with a win against Everton.
However, they did lose 5-0 to Arsenal, and looked a step behind in that game. Daniel Farke could be under pressure sooner rather than later.
16. Fulham
It has been a fairly quiet transfer window for the Cottagers, which is perhaps why AI is predicting a decline from last season.
Marco Silva’s best bit of business was that he was able to keep hold of striker Rodrigo Muniz, who attracted a lot of attention in the Serie A.
15. Brentford
Having lost both Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, the Bees are expected to struggle this season, although AI does believe they will have enough to stay in the division.
They did sign Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth, and he could prove to be vital in replacing Mbeumo, who went to Man United.
14. Wolves
Much like Brentford, Wolves lost their best player, and have been tipped to struggle this season. Matheus Cunha is gone, and Jorgen Strand Larsen has suffered an injury, meaning that Wolves have a lack of options in attack.
However, they do still have plenty of talent in midfield, and AI believes that they will do enough to be able to survive relegation.
13. Nottingham Forest
After a superb season last year, tensions are higher at Forest between manager Nuno Espirito Santo and owner Evangelos Maranakis.
They did manage to keep hold of Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi though, so AI thinks they will be just fine.
12. Crystal Palace
AI’s assumption here is that the sale of Eze could hurt Palace’s chances of creeping into the European places, and instead sees them drop into the bottom half of the table.
Palace did manage to keep hold of Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta though which will certainly help their case.
11. West Ham United
This is a big surprise, they have had an awful start to the new season under Graham Potter, and lost their best player in the summer window (Mohammed Kudus).
West Ham didn’t spend much either, so AI putting them 12th feels very generous indeed considering their situation.
