Edson Alvarez has departed West Ham United after a tough spell in East London.

Alvarez joined Fenerbahce on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for £19million next summer.

West Ham fans will be glad to see the back of Alvarez, who struggled during his two-year spell at the London Stadium.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Crysencio Summerville took part in a Hammers social media video, and the English defender made a hilarious error.

Wan-Bissaka and Summerville were taking part in a quickfire challenge video, where they needed to name a player from the country that came up on the flag filter.

The right-back’s first country was Italy, but he mistakenly believed the flag was Mexico’s and said “Edson” with confidence, referring to his ex team-mate.

He was laughed at by Summerville, who then hit him with a pillow for getting the answer incorrect.

In the comments, Alvarez tagged Wan-Bissaka and followed up with a laughing emoji.

Feel-good factor needs to return to West Ham

West Ham’s start to the season has been poor, with heavy defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea, followed by a late 3-2 collapse at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

Graham Potter is under major pressure to turn results around, but he gave himself some breathing room with West Ham’s 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest last weekend.

In truth, the Hammers need to lift the mood in the dressing room, and social media activities like this can help build chemistry and team bonding, which will be crucial in their survival fight.

West Ham are getting there, but whether Potter will get enough time to turn their fortunes around is another story.
