Liverpool plan ruined as Kylian Mbappe tells €60m Mo Salah ‘replacement’ to ‘come to Real…

Kylian Mbappe has directly told one of Europe’s best players to join him at Real Madrid, according to a report in Spain, as Liverpool’s plans to bring him to Anfield as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah are in danger of being ruined.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world, and both were very active in the summer transfer window. While Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, among others, Liverpool brought in the likes of Alexander Isak, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike, as manager Arne Slot aims to win the Premier League title for the second season in a row.

While Liverpool fans are over the moon to see the club make massive signings this summer, the deal to keep Mo Salah at Anfield is also a noteworthy one.

Salah was out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the 2024/25 season, but in April, the Reds handed the Egyptian superstar a new two-year deal.

The former Chelsea star remains a world-class forward even at the age of 33 and has already scored one goal and given one assist in three Premier League matches this season.

However, Liverpool are fully aware of the need to find a long-term successor to Salah, and, according to The Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele, the defending Premier League champions have identified Bayern Munich and France international winger Michael Olise as that player.

Steele wrote in The Daily Mail on September 4: “As for Michael Olise, I certainly cannot rule that one out.

“They [Liverpool] want a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement in the next summer or two and the early noises are that Bayern Munich’s former Crystal Palace star Olise could be right at the top of their shopping list.

“We can’t say too much more than that yet but could be one to watch…”

However, in a cruel blow to Liverpool, it has now emerged that Real Madrid forward Mbappe has directly told Olise to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe and Olise are part of the France squad involved in World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Iceland.

According to Defensa Central, Mbappe has submitted Olise’s name to Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker is also said to have reported Olise during the training camp**:** “You have to come to Madrid.”

What Real Madrid think of Michael Olise

Olise has been on the books of Bayern since the summer of 2024, when he joined from Crystal Palace for €60million (£52m, $70.3m)

The 23-year-old, who operates mainly as a right-winger but can also play as an attacking midfielder, scored 16 goals and gave 25 assists in 90 appearances for Palace during his time at the Premier League.

Olise scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists in 55 appearances for Bayern in the 2024/25 campaign, as Vincent Kompany’s side won the Bundesliga.

The France international has started the new season on fire, scoring four goals in four matches for the Bavarian giants.

According to Defensa Central, Olise is ‘not a priority’ for Real Madrid ‘for the moment’, but things could change in the future.

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is alternating between Franco Mastantuono and Brahim Diaz for the right-winger’s role.

When Jude Bellingham returns to action, Alonso could switch from a 4-3-3 formation to a 4-4-2 formation that will accommodate the England international midfielder.

Nevertheless, Mbappe maintains that Olise would be ‘an excellent addition’ to the Madrid squad.

Olise is only 23 now, and while it is unlikely that Bayern will want to sell the winger anytime soon, Madrid should be keeping tabs on the former Palace star for a future move, especially as he has got the endorsement of Mbappe.
