Alexander Isak finally got his Newcastle United exit last week after a summer-long saga.
Alexander Isak notified his Newcastle United teammates he was leaving via WhatsApp before jumping ship to Liverpool.
The bitterest transfer saga of the summer came to an end on Monday as the sulking Swede finally got his Anfield move. Isak downed tools all summer at St James’ Park as he pushed for a Toon exit.
Newcastle struggled to score - thus dropping points - in their first three Premier League games of the season. As a result of his actions, Isak has now destroyed the legendary legacy he held with United supporters.
Alexander Isak message on WhatsApp
Newcastle fans will not be surprised to learn Isak - who sweated blood alongside his Toon teammates for three years - notified the players of his exit over WhatsApp rather than in person. Dan Burn has revealed there was, however, no animosity towards his decision.
"He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving, thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied,” he told a press conference while on England duty. “Yeah, of course (it was all positive). Alex is getting what he wants, and now we've just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we've got.
"It has brought us closer, really. I'm not silly, I've been around football a long time and people have short careers. They want to max out absolutely everything they can, so there's no hard feelings from me.”
Anthony Elanga speaks out
Anthony Elanga - who still shares a dressing room with the former Toon striker on international duty - was also grilled about the Isak saga. He told Swedish media: “Isak is a Liverpool player right now. I have the chance to play with him in the national team.
“He had a good career at Newcastle, but right now he is a Liverpool player. Good luck to him. It has been chill (in the dressing room). He had a contract with us and right now he is with Liverpool.
“We all think he is a very good player. We lost a good player but we also signed good players. Hopefully we can look forward and focus on this season. It’s his choice. He chose Liverpool. Good luck to him. He is a friend to me and a fantastic footballer. I can play with him in the national team and that is good as well.”

Alexander Isak to Newcastle United supporters
In a social media message viewed as too little, too late by Newcastle fans, Isak wrote: “I want to express my gratitude to my team-mates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together.
"Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs. It has been an honour to be part of the journey, from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years. Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle."
