Despite the close of the Premier League transfer window, rumors surrounding Federico Chiesa’s future continue to circulate, with Turkish club Besiktas reportedly making a late inquiry for the Italian winger.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Besiktas reached out to Liverpool officials this week, though no formal offer has been made. “I can also reveal to you that Besiktas also called for Federico Chiesa,” Romano stated. “What I can tell you is that Liverpool are not letting Federico go on loan.”
The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12, allowing Besiktas to continue its pursuit. Romano noted that the club is “prepared to invest money” and could be a team to watch in the coming days.
Chiesa, 27, has seen more playing time this season, but his long-term future at Anfield is uncertain. The winger was notably left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad, and Italy manager Gennaro Gattuso recently revealed that Chiesa told him he “didn’t feel it” when asked to join the national team.
Liverpool has already made several attacking signings this summer, including a British record deal for Alexander Isak. This increased competition has pushed Chiesa down the pecking order. However, with the departures of key players like Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Diogo Jota, Liverpool’s depth in attack is a concern.
Any move for Chiesa would likely require a significant permanent offer from Besiktas, as Liverpool is unlikely to sanction a loan deal.
