The Cleveland Browns were linked to Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. for much of the pre-draft process, and they wound up selecting him at the top of the third round. What exactly are the Browns getting in their new weapon, and what kind of a player does his tape show?
Despite breaking a plethora of NCAA records for single-season tight end performance in 2024, Fannin scored multiple touchdowns in a game only twice, once against Old Dominion, and the other time against Western Michigan in Week 12. He hauled in 10 passes for 137 yards and those two scores, playing a huge role in Bowling Green's 31-13 victory.
In the first clip below, Fannin is lined up on the left side of the formation, and pulls back to the right side as the runner's lead blocker. He successfully collides with the crashing safety, allowing the running back to hit the hole with speed and end up with a very nice gain. Fannin didn't pancake his man, nor did he drive him 10 yards downfield; he simply got in the way and kept the running lane open, which was all he needed to do.
