The Giants have put more distance between themselves and the prolonged evaluation period of former first-round pick Daniel Jones, who was released in 2024 and now replaced by a mix of veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston along with rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart. New York also made a big splash adding an explosive pass-rusher with the No. 2 overall pick in the first round in Penn State’s Abdul Carter with hopes of closing the gap in a tough NFC East Division after a 3-14 campaign. The addition of Carter could rival the impact of last season’s first-round pick, wide receiver Malik Nabers, who emerged as a force early and finished with 109 catches for 1,204 yards with 16 catches of 20-plus yards and seven receiving TDs.

The Commanders made an eight-game improvement last season, when they went 12-5 in coach Dan Quinn’s debut after going 4-13 in ‘23. The arrival of first-round rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was a huge part of that effort with 3,568 passing yards, 25 touchdowns to nine interceptions, along with a team-high 891 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Washington was a playoff team for the first time since 2020 and posted the franchise’s best scoring differential (+94) since 1998, which was driven by a rejuvenated and explosive offense, as well as big strides on defense.

The Commanders showed out in the postseason, too, solidifying Daniels’ reputation as a cool operator in pressure situations by reaching the NFC Championship Game with back-to-back road victories over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (23-20) in the Wild Card Round and the top-seeded Detroit Lions (45-31) in the Divisional Round.

The Commanders and Giants are set for a 1 p.m. ET start on FOX. Live streams are available from FuboTV (free trial), SlingTV (low intro rate) and DirecTV (free trial).
