"Definitely be interested" - Man United should jump at chance to sign 29-year-old next year

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has said that he would "definitely be interested" in making the move to the Premier League despite being "comfortable" at San Siro.

The Netherlands international has been with Inter since August 2021, making 181 appearances for the Milan giants, scoring 23 goals and registering 26 assists in the process.

Dumfries has won six trophies during his time with the Milan outfit, including the 2023-24 Serie A title, while he has also helped them progress to two Champions League finals, including last year.

The 29-year-old had a €25m (£21.7m) release clause in his contract until the end of July, but he remained at Inter despite a number of clubs, including sides from the Premier League, being credited with an interest.

Dumfries has a contract with Inter until June 2028, but he has revealed that a move to the Premier League is on his radar.

Dumfries "definitely interested" in Premier League move

"I play in Serie A and I'm comfortable at Inter, but I think I could do well in the Premier League too. I'd definitely be interested. The Premier League is known for its intensity, while Serie A is one of the strongest leagues tactically," Dumfries told reporters while on international duty with the Netherlands.

Dumfries was in impressive form for Inter during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists in 47 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the defender is off the mark for goals this season, scoring once in two Serie A matches, with his effort coming in a 2-1 defeat to Udinese at the end of August.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool have all previously been linked with Dumfries, but he could prove to be the perfect player to fill the right-sided wing-back spot at Manchester United.

Man United are long-term admirers of Dumfries

Man United have been admirers of Dumfries for a considerable amount of time, and 2026 could be the year that the 20-time English champions finally decide to make their move.

Diogo Dalot continues to flatter to deceive, with the Portugal international simply not offering enough from an attacking point of view, while Amad Diallo struggles defensively, so there is a problem in that area.

Dumfries, on the other hand, can contribute at both ends of the field, and it could turn out to be an incredibly smart signing for Man United if they do decide to make a move for his services.
