Commanders Made 2 Roster Moves On Saturday

The Washington Commanders have heightened expectations heading into the 2025 season after making an improbable run all the way to the NFC Championship game last season, and after making some big splashes and landing Deebo Samuel, Laremy Tunsil, and Von Miller, this fan base is thinking Super Bowl.

Washington opens its season on Sunday with an NFC East battle against the New York Giants, and ahead of that battle, Washington made a pair of final roster tweaks on Saturday to get ready.

The Commanders announced on X that they have elevated center Michael Deiter and wide receiver Chris Moore from the practice squad.

Deiter was active for 17 games for the Commanders last season and made two starts, and it will be helpful for Washington to have another body in the trenches who has experience at both center and guard over his career.

He’ll slot in behind Tyler Biadasz at center; hopefully, it will just be in an emergency role.

Moore will likely serve as the sixth receiver on the depth chart behind Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown, Luke McCaffrey, and Jaylin Lane.

The 32-year-old didn’t appear in a regular-season game last year and last played for the Tennessee Titans in 2023, when he caught 22 passes for 424 yards.

He has been a reliable veteran presence since coming into the league in 2016, and it’s always helpful to have someone like that in the WR room who has been around the block a bit.

Now that the roster is finalized, it’s time for the Commanders to carry over the momentum from last year and start 1-0.
