Turkish giants suffer crushing blow in pursuit of £27 million Arsenal utility man

Turkish giants Besiktas have reportedly suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Besiktas have been keen on acquiring the services of Leandro Trossard, but they are unlikely to get their hands on the Belgian forward. Arsenal have already made a decision on his future. The North London outfit have no intentions of negotiating his departure this summer.

Trossard made a name for himself at Brighton before joining the Gunners at the start of 2023 in a deal worth £27 million (including add-ons). The versatile attacker has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s team since the onset of his spell. In his 125 appearances, he has contributed towards 51 goals.

Despite not being a regular starter, the Belgian international has quite an important role in the team. However, with just two years left on his deal, there has been a lot of talk about Leandro Trossard’s future throughout the summer.

While the versatile forward has stayed at the North London club beyond the transfer window in England, it remains open in a few other countries, and there are still clubs interested in the 30-year-old.

Besiktas won’t be able to land Trossard

The transfer window in Turkiye runs until September 11, and giants Besiktas seem keen on Trossard’s signature. They are looking for more firepower in the final third, and the versatile Arsenal forward could do wonders for them.

Leandro Trossard can feature anywhere in attack, and he has a lot of experience playing at the highest level. The former Brighton & Hove Albion attacker could be a marquee signing for them; someone who helps them take their attack to the next level.

While the Turkish Super Lig outfit have been linked with him in recent days, they are unlikely to get their hands on the Belgian international. Arsenal have no intentions of sanctioning his departure at this stage.

The Gunners have already held talks with him over a new deal. The 30-year-old has given the green light and is expected to put pen to paper in the coming days. As a result, there are no chances of Trossard moving to the Turkish Super Lig before the end of their window.
