Sports books have the Bears as slight underdogs Monday in the season opener against the Vikings at Soldier Field.
Don’t tell that to our voters, though. Three-quarters of them picked the Bears to win.
That game led off this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, which was all about the Bears and the season ahead.
“I’m picking the Bears because I really hope they do win, but I’m not confident at all,” @00723maui commented.
Wrote @ronw_sportsnut, with a dismissive nod at the Vikings’ J.J. McCarthy, “Going against a QB who has not played a single down in an NFL game has to favor the Bears.”
And how many games will the Bears win this season? Eight or nine? More or fewer than that?
“They might have a winning record, but no postseason,” according to @JBIRD1268.
Last, we wondered how many Bears games you’ll watch this season, ranging from none to all.
“Every single one of them,” @kingkielbasa22 replied.
And @RobertJMccoy1: “I would say ‘all,’ but stuff happens.”
On to the polls:
Poll No. 1: Who wins the Bears-Vikings opener Monday at Soldier Field?
It’s time for this week’s “Polling Place.” Let us hear from you! Selected comments will appear in Sunday's paper.

Upshot: Any guesses what the Bears’ record was in season openers under Matt Eberflus? Try 2-1. Read that again a few dozen times if that’s what it takes to make it sink in. The point being: Whatever happens in Game 1 under Ben Johnson, it won’t be telling in the big picture.
Poll No. 2: What will the Bears’ record be this season?

Upshot: Is it exciting watching a team go roughly .500? Yes — if the new coach seems to have his act together, the quarterback of the future looks the part and the rookies play like future studs. That’s a lot of “ifs.”
Poll No. 3: How many Bears games will you watch this season?

Upshot: Do your daily stretches, get your proper rest and maybe — maybe — you’ll truly be an “A”-teamer this season. Lots of luck.
