Vidosic gives verdict as Albion are held on WSL opening day

The Seagulls shared a 0-0 draw at home to Aston Villa in a match which saw both sides hit the woodwork.

Head coach Vidosic said: “We would have liked to have controlled the game a lot more in the first half.

“We had opportunities and sometimes it’s hard because it’s that round one, you’re at home.

“We want to start well. We want to try and be right up there again in that conversation like we were last season.

“We knew we had a tough opponent as well.

“The transitional threat that they possess and the way they play makes you play a little bit more safe.

“I thought we were a little bit too safe to begin with – but it’s normal.

“I thought at half-time we settled it down, we looked a lot better in possession, kept it for longer periods and then it was maybe that decision-making.

“But fatigue starts to play a part.

“A lot to learn from and hopefully we will have another good test on Friday night.”

Albion go to Manchester City, who opened their season with a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea, in round two.
