Green Bay Packers: Charles Woodson has bold prediction for former team in 2025 NFL season

The Green Bay Packers are certainly one of the most exciting teams in the entire NFL heading into the 2025 season. Despite the fact that they, for the third consecutive season, are the youngest team in the league, their roster is composed of players that, though young, have multiple seasons of experience that includes trips to the NFL Playoffs.

Earlier this year, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters that he felt it was high time that his team start seriously competing for Super Bowls. Green Bay has not won a title since the 2010 when Aaron Rodgers led them to victory in Super Bowl XLV, and each of their trips to the NFC Championship Game since then ended in losses.

But this year, the hope is that they will finally get over the hump and into the title game. Additionally, many think this will be the year they dethrone the Detroit Lions as champions of the NFC North, and one of the members of their last Super Bowl team, Charles Woodson, is among them.

Woodson, of course, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and one of the best defensive players in Packers history. He won the 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award and had 38 interceptions in his seven seasons in Green Bay, leading the league twice in that span.

Many consider Woodson to be the second-greatest free agent signing in franchise history, only behind that of Reggie White.

And this season’s acquisition of Micah Parsons via trade from the Dallas Cowboys is already being talked about in the same light. A four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Parsons has made many believe this year’s Packers defense could take the next step in helping lead the team back to the top of their division and, perhaps, to the Super Bowl.

Woodson is among those who feel that way, as he stated on Fox this morning:

“Green Bay is now the favorite to win the NFC North and I stand on that,” Woodson said.

Last season, the Packers finished third in the NFC North with an 11-5 record, behind the 15-2 Lions and 14-3 Minnesota Vikings.

But both the Lions and Vikings suffered significant losses to either coaching staffs or rosters while Green Bay only added more talented players. Additionally, young stars like Edgerrin Cooper are expected to be even better in 2025, and quarterback Jordan Love will (hopefully) not be hampered with the injuries that plagued him all year long last season.

It is a long season and they have to let it all play out, but this does certainly seem like it could be a special season for the Packers.
