UPDATED, 10:57 a.m.: We've made it! The NFL regular season is here, and for the New Orleans Saints, it starts in about 70 minutes here at Caesars Superdome.
The opponent is the Arizona Cardinals, and it's our first look that counts at the brand-new Saints. New coach Kellen Moore. New starting quarterback Spencer Rattler. New offense. New defense. Heck, even new uniforms — the Saints announced this week they're wearing their alternate golds to go with gold end zones.
This is going to be fun if for no other reason than we have no idea what's going to happen.
The inactives report is out, and for the Saints, the interesting point is that defensive tackles Vernon Broughton and Khristian Boyd are both healthy inactives for this one. That means plenty of playing time for guys like Jonathan Bullard and Nathan Shepherd, and on the edge, Chris Rumph and seventh-round rookie Fadil Diggs, who was elevated from the practice squad.
Trevor Penning and Chase Young are both out with injury, as announced Friday.
