The 49ers aspire to contend again with the core nucleus of coach Kyle Shanahan, quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Fred Warner still holding the keys to their success. The team finished the ‘24 season with a 6-11 record and losses in seven of its final eight games to tumble out of the NFC playoff race in the second half. A healthy campaign from McCaffrey could help restore the rhythm of Shanahan’s offense to a defense still stocked with talent after ranking eighth in the NFL in total defense (317.4 ypg) and fifth against the pass (192.8 ypg).
The Seahawks went 10-7 in their first season since moving on from coach Pete Carroll, who guided the franchise to a Super Bowl win, back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, 10 NFC playoff berths and five division titles in 14 seasons. Seattle signed top free agent quarterback Sam Darnold to run the offense in 2025 and added firepower on that side of the ball in Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdez-Scantling. Defensively, Seattle ranked No. 11 in the NFL against the pass (211.9 ypg), No.ds 12 in scoring (21.6 ppg), and No. 14 in total defense (332.7 ypg).
