Aston Villa saved their season in the summer transfer window by keeping Morgan Rogers at the club, despite interest from some of the biggest sides in the Premier League.
Towards the end of the window, Villa made some impressive last-minute additions, bringing in both Harvey Elliott, from Liverpool, and Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United. It was a slow window for Unai Emery's side up until that point, although a hugely important thing was being able to keep hold of all of their key stars.
Villa's desperation for new additions in the summer window may have increased in the early stages of the 2025/2026 season. The Midlands outfit have picked up just one point in the Premier League so far from a possible nine, sitting 19th in the table heading into the international break.
Keeping Rogers Bigger for Aston Villa Than Elliott or Sancho

The signings of Elliott and Sancho will undoubtedly benefit Villa for the 2025/2026 campaign, but keeping hold of Rogers will be more beneficial than any new additions. Despite being just 22 years old at the start of the previous season, Rogers contributed with 18 goals and assists combined in the Premier League, with only experienced striker Ollie Watkins managing more.
GIVEMESPORT sources previously confirmed during the summer transfer window that Arsenal were keen on signing Rogers, who was valued at £90m at the time, while Liverpool have also previously been credited with an interest. If Villa are to have any success this season, then Rogers is likely to be integral to that, and although new additions are exciting for supporters, keeping hold of key players can often be more important.
Whether Villa will be able to keep Rogers for the long term future remains to be seen, but it's a statement of intent for them to fend off interest from some of the biggest clubs and keep him at Villa Park. The England international is under contract with the Villans until 2030, so they are under no pressure to sell, and it's likely to take a monumental fee for them to even consider parting ways.
With some of their rivals for European places losing key stars, such as Newcastle United selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, it might have gone under the radar that Villa managed to keep hold of Rogers.
