Bears CB Kyler Gordon added to injury report

The Bears’ uncertainty at cornerback for Monday night’s opener grew a little more dire Sunday when the team added slot cornerback Kyler Gordon to the injury report with a hamstring injury.

He is officially questionable to play against the Vikings.

Gordon fought a nagging hamstring injury last month. He was injured in early August and coach Ben Johnson declared him “week-to-week” on Aug. 13 but he returned to practice exactly seven days later as a limited participant. He did not appear on this week’s injury report until Sunday.

Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who suffered a severe groin injury before the start of training camp, practiced for the first time earlier this week and is questionable to play Monday. Josh Blackwell, who serves as Gordon’s backup in the slot, is also questionable with a groin strain.

Nahshon Wright would start opposite Tyrique Stevenson were Johnson to sit out. The Bears have Nick McCloud and Jaylon Jones on their bench and Tre Flowers and Dontae Manning on the practice squad. The Bears can promote players from the practice squad as late as Monday afternoon.
