Predicting the Man Utd line-up on the final day of the 2025/26 season, including five players yet to debut - Opinion

The summer transfer window is now closed, and Manchester United have a stronger squad than when it opened.

Ruben Amorim has overseen some substantial changes at Old Trafford in his first summer transfer window as head coach.

Having been concerned by the lack of goal threat last season at Manchester United, there is now an entirely new front three.

United signed Matheus Cunha for £62.5m to start the season, before then moving for Bryan Mbeumo for £65m in July.

Attention then turned to up front, with United signing Benjamin Sesko to revamp the striker role for £66m.

Finally, on deadline day, United signed Senne Lammens for £18.2m in a move to upgrade in goal after this season’s howlers in goal.

So four starters have been signed, but how many will be starting come May?

How Manchester United could line up on the final day of the 2025/26 campaign

This season, United end the season against Brighton at the Amex, by which stage, Amorim will hope to have his team firmly in the European positions.

If this is the case, and positions aren’t being fought for come May 24th, 2026, then we could see Amorim give out some debutants, and in this scenario, here is the line-up we expect to see, including youngsters we think will earn their place this coming campaign.

Senne Lammens

In the end, there looks likely to be a battle for the starting role, but having watched the disaster of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, Lammens should become the clear number one by May.

United signed Lammens on deadline day for £18.2m as he became the fifth signing of the summer.

Leny Yoro

Over the next 10 months, many assume that Yoro will become world-class for United, and the start to this season has backed that up. Yoro is one of the first names on the team sheet for Amorim, and we cannot wait to see how he continues to evolve this coming season.

Matthijs de Ligt

Heading into this season, De Ligt was viewed as the potential rock in defence, and he has started the season so well, building a good understanding with Yoro. We see this continuing all season long.

Godwill Kukonki

On the left of the back three, assuming United aren’t playing for positions on the final day, we can envision a full debut for Kukonki. Since taking charge, Amorim has paid special attention to Kukonki, and a debut could be on the cards.

Bendito Mantato

At right wing-back, we expect Amad to end up having a great season, but on the final day of the season, there is no excuse not to play some youth. Therefore, Mantato should be handed his debut after a season of building up to it.

Bruno Fernandes

In midfield, it may be a surprise to see Fernandes, but with the idea that it will be his final game, the Portuguese magnifico will be starting in potentially his farewell outing.

Kobbie Mainoo

Partnering Fernandes, we think it will be Mainoo who should be the new first-choice partner for the Portuguese star. Mainoo will then become one of the most important players at the club in 2026/27.

Diego Leon

On the left, after a slow start to the season, it could quickly become a battle between Leon and Patrick Dorgu. Therefore, we see Leon debuting before this game, but we expect him to start the season finale.

Bryan Mbeumo

After what looks like it might be a player of the year worthy season, we think Mbeumo starts as an experienced head among the wonderkids we are tipping to play.

Amir Ibragimov

Like Mbeumo, we see Cunha having an incredible campaign, but if he continues his academy performances, a debut for Ibragimov is definitely going to come this season. It may even come sooner than we expect.

Benjamin Sesko

Finally, after what could be a season of learning and growing, although we still expect at least 15 goals, Sesko starting the final game of the season should come as no shock, although Chido Obi will want to take the minutes himself.
