Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s fitness is currently causing concern as he’s been ruled out of action with some knee discomfort.
Gavi missed Barcelona’s last game against Rayo and isn’t now expected back until the start of October when Hansi Flick’s side face PSG in the Champions League.
A new report from Diario Sport has a fresh update on the situation and says that Gavi is set to undergo some thorough tests on his knee in the coming days in a bid to get to the root of the problem.
Barca want to find out whether to continue with conservative treatment but have not ruled out an arthroscopy to clean up the knee - a procedure which will not affect his cruciate ligament that was operated on two years ago.
Indeed Alexia Putellas underwent such a procedure in 2023 in a bid to resolve knee issues that had occurred following her ACL surgery the year before.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next with Gavi, but let’s hope that Barca can diagnose what is going on and get the midfielder back out on the pitch as soon as possible.
