Leeds United confirmed the release of Patrick Bamford recently, bringing an end to his seven-year spell at the club, with his next move now becoming clearer.
United’s striker investment in the summer saw them bring in two free agents in the form of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Alongside Daniel Farke adding to his pool of forwards, he made it clear that Patrick Bamford would not be part of the plans, seeing him left out of the squad for pre-season.

Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that the 32-year-old has made his mind up on the move he intends to make, and that’s across the pond to the MLS in the United States.
The MLS has continued to grow in stature as a global brand in the lead-up to next year’s World Cup in the States, helped significantly by the transfers of household names such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Son Heung-Min, Mateusz Klich and plenty more.
It’s also no secret that a transfer to the MLS would likely provide Bamford with a healthy contract following his long-term deal at Leeds, an extension that pushed towards the top of the earnings at Elland Road.
MLS would be an ideal move for Patrick Bamford after Leeds United exit
The MLS, for all of its progression towards being a league where players in the peaks of their careers there, it’s still one where stars can wind down.
You’re seeing it with Messi at 38 running the show for Inter Miami, and for Bamford, it could be an ideal next step for him as he enters the latter stage of his career.
He does still have plenty to give if he can shake off the injury issues he’s suffered at Leeds, but if there’s a lucrative contract on offer across the Atlantic, you’d be daft not to take it.
