Leeds United signed Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on free transfers in the last window. However, Daniel Farke wanted to add one more striker to the mix as both his summer recruits are injury-prone and he wanted more cover up front.
However, Leeds had a disastrous end to the transfer window, and the club failed to bring in any more attacking players on deadline day. They had a very public failure in trying to sign Wales winger Harry Wilson on deadline day, when Fulham had a last-minute change of heart about not selling the Welshman.

Calvert-Lewin is yet to start a game, and Joel Piroe is yet to find the back of the net this season. Lukas Nmecha scored from the penalty spot against Everton, but the Whites are yet to score from open play in the Premier League.
Farke will try to keep things ticking along based on the solidity of his team in midfield and defence over the next few months, but will likely demand attacking reinforcements, including a striker, in the January transfer window.

Leeds United are set to relaunch their pursuit of Roma striker Artem Dovbyk
Serie A giants Roma wanted to sell Dovbyk in the summer transfer window, and Leeds were among the clubs who enquired about signing the Ukrainian.
The Whites were interested in the forward, but they never made a concrete offer for him, with Roma keen to get somewhere around £26m from his departure.
However, Roma never received suitable offers for him, and he made two substitute appearances from the bench in the first two Serie A games.
Roma are likely to be keen to move him on in the winter window unless something changes from now until then, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport via LaRoma 24, Leeds are still keen on him.
It has been claimed that the Whites could consider getting their hands on him in the January transfer window, if he is again available.
However, Leeds are unlikely to match Roma’s £26m asking price, and the Serie A giants will likely have to lower their demands for Dovbyk.
Leeds will need a striker in January
Leeds manager Farke will hope that Nmecha, Calvert-Lewin and Piroe can do the job until at least the winter transfer window, without any of them breaking down.
However, if the goals do not flow and injuries hit, Farke is almost certain to demand adding a striker to his squad in the winter window.
Dovbyk has been on Leeds’ radar and certainly has the physicality for the Premier League. However, the manager is expected to prioritise a proven top-flight performer, as there will be no time to ease a new player into the league midway through the season.
