Manchester United agree deal for 29-year-old’s summer exit

Manchester United outcast Andre Onana is all set to join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Andre Onana is expected to join Trabzonspor in the coming days. The Cameroonian international has given the green light to the move, and the paperwork should be finalised soon. He is expected to travel to Turkiye for his medical this week.

Onana’s failed United move

Onana’s move to Manchester United hasn’t gone according to plan. The 29-year-old was at the peak of his powers while playing for Inter Milan. He helped the Italian giants reach the final of the Champions League and had established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

On the back of his sensational rise, United secured his services in the summer of 2023 to be their number one going forward. Unfortunately, the move hasn’t worked out as Onana has struggled to get back to his best since moving to Manchester.

His inconsistent performances have seen him go down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese manager no longer counts on him and has preferred having Altay Bayındır in goal for the league games. The Red Devils ended up signing Senne Lammens on deadline day, which pushes Onana further down.

Trabzonspor were made aware of his availability, and since they were looking for an upgrade in goal, the Super Lig outfit decided to step up their efforts to sign him. They have managed to strike a deal with United for a straightforward loan deal without any options or a loan fee.

Following the green light from the Manchester-based giants, Trabzonspor had been working hard to convince Onana about the move. They have managed to agree terms with the Cameroonian, and he has already put pen to paper. Once the Super Lig club finalises all documents, the player will travel to undergo a medical at his new club.
