Malik Nabers is the best offensive player on the New York Giants but Russell Wilson refused to get him the ball. Some of that blame also falls on head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
Regardless of who is at fault, the offensive strategy needs to change.
Good things happen when when the ball is thrown in Nabers’ direction. He was the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft for a reason!
Throw Malik Nabers the ball.
New York trailed Washington 14-3 with less than 20 minutes remaining in the game. Nabers had just three catches on seven targets at the time.
The Giants were trying to get him the ball but Wilson could not get it to him.
To make matters worse, they threw a pass to fifth-round rookie Marcus Mbow at the goal line. Mbow is a 305-pound offensive lineman.

That was on Kafka and Daboll. Nabers made sure to let them know he was frustrated but they made up.

Everything else was on Russell Wilson. It’s not like his best pass-catcher wasn’t getting open.

Look what happened when the first-year Giants quarterback finally threw the ball in Nabers’ general direction late in the third quarter:

That was only Wilson’s 11th completion on 22 attempts. Not ideal.
And then it happened again in the fourth quarter…

Both bad throws.
Malik Nabers was fed up.
Prior to that point, Malik Nabers needed a moment to himself. He was visibly frustrated by the lack of touches and his quarterback’s struggles.

Meanwhile, Jaxson Dart is waiting in the wings. Giants fans are chomping at the bit to get their first-round rookie quarterback on the field after an electric preseason. Nabers might feel the same.
At what point does Russell Wilson run out of leash? Only time will tell.
