Newcastle United welcome Wolves to St James’ Park for the first game after the international break.
While several players are away on international duty, Eddie Howe will be focused on preparing the players he has in training for the next Premier League game.
Newcastle United are yet to register a win this season, but will hope to get their first three points on the board when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to St James’ Park.
The Magpies suffered a heartbreaking late defeat to Liverpool in their first home game of the season, which included a red card for Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle’s star boy is unable to play until later this month, while there is an injury concern for Joelinton, who came off with a groin problem during the Liverpool defeat.
Meanwhile, four players from Wolves could miss out on visiting St James’ Park, including someone Newcastle fans will be very familiar with.

Jorgen Strand Larsen among those doubtful for Newcastle United vs Wolves
Jorgen Strand Larsen could have been a Newcastle player this season had he got his way. Reports stated that the 25-year-old asked to leave Wolves after two rejected bids from the Magpies, but the club’s hierarchy informed him that it would not be possible for him to leave.

The Norwegian was set to be involved against Newcastle before the international break, but head coach Vitor Pereira announced that he was struggling with a minor problem. His return date is set to be the Newcastle game, but he will need to be assessed ahead of the trip to the North East.
Jorgen Strand Larsen is not at the Wolves team hotel this evening and is expected to miss the game against Everton tomorrow.

One player who will definitely miss the game for Wolves is 19-year-old Leon Chiwome. The striker suffered a ruptured ACL in January, keeping him out for at least nine months. Despite that, Chiwome has only made three professional appearances for the Midlands side, so it was unlikely that he would have been involved anyway.
Elsewhere, there are injury concerns for Ki-Jana Hoever, who is suffering with a knee issue, and Hugo Bueno, who is currently being assessed.
Newcastle United’s last five results against Wolves
Wolves are yet to pick up a single point in the Premier League this season, and sit dead last in the table. However, things are not much better for the Magpies, who currently find themselves 17th.
Newcastle will be keen to get more points on the board after a rather drab start to the season. One positive which can be taken is the two clean sheets they have kept against Aston Villa and Leeds United.
Date Result

Howe will have two new strikers at his disposal for the Wolves game, with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa both completing moves to the club late into the transfer window. Fans will expect the pair to quickly get up to speed with Howe’s style of play and bring instant results to their new club.
Thankfully, Newcastle have enjoyed a lot of good results against Wolves in recent years, and have not been beaten by Pereira’s side since 2021 – eight games ago.
The Magpies have won four of their last five games against Wolves, so fans will hope another win will come next Saturday.
