Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers faced off against the NFC North rival Detroit Lions to kick off their 2025 NFL season. What happened during the game was exactly what fans were hoping to see.
Not only did the Packers win the game, they dominated it.
From the very start of the game to the very end, Green Bay looked the part of the top-tier Super Bowl contender they have been looked at since the Parsons trade. When all was said and done, the Packers came through with an impressive victory.
Of course, in addition to the win, Parsons making his debut was a reason for Green Bay to celebrate.
With that being said, how did Parsons fare during his debut with the Packers? His first performance went quite well.
Heading into the game, it was announced that Parsons would not have a full workload. He is still working his way through an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back. Green Bay wanted to let him take things easy in his first game of the year.
Despite not playing a full workload, Parsons made an impact.
His personal statistics included a tackle and a sack. That was not the extent of his performance though.
Even though he didn't put up huge numbers individually, his impact was felt by his teammates. On multiple occasions, the Packers were able to get pressure on Jared Goff due to the Lions focusing on slowing down Parsons. That is the kind of effect a superstar pass rusher can have.
When his first sack did occur in the fourth quarter, the fans went crazy. Parsons displayed his elite speed and motor to get that first sack.
Take a look at the play for yourself:
Hopefully, Parsons will be cleared for an even bigger workload in Week 2 on Thursday Night Football against the Washington Commanders. Green Bay will need him in order to contain Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels.
All of that being said, Parsons' debut was extremely successful. The Packers came through with a dominant win over a division rival and the best team in the NFC from last season. If this game was a sign of things to come, Green Bay fans should be ecstatic.
