The Seattle Seahawks know Geno Smith well. [He led the team](https://horseshoeheroes.com/took-one-half-indianapolis-colts-know-right-decision-daniel-jones) for three years, and in all of those seasons Seattle was mediocre or better. Last season, the team won 10 games. Smith was a big reason for the decent success, but he was also at fault.
[What Smith giveth](https://12thmanrising.com/took-one-game-geno-smith-remind-seattle-seahawks-fans-he-is), he could also giveth away. In Week 9 of 2024, for instance, he threw three terrible interceptions against the Los Angeles Rams, which led directly to a Seattle loss in overtime. That game alone might have cost the team a playoff spot as the Rams won the tie-break.
In the first half of his first start for the Las Vegas Raiders after Smith was traded to Vegas this offseason, Smith threw a touchdown pass to start the game, and then did the Geno thing of tossing the ball into triple coverage. Eventually, that led to an unneeded interception.
Geno Smith shows the Las Vegas Raiders everything he showed the Seattle Seahawks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Catch-22 with Geno Smith has always been that he has the arm talent to make any throw at any point. He, unfortunately, has the arrogance to make throws he shouldn't. Great quarterbacks know when to do things they shouldn't, even though they might also think a pass is worth the risk. Not Geno Smith. He is going to risk it.
At the end of the first half in the Las Vegas Raiders' opener against the New England Patriots, Smith was 11 of 19 passing for 140 yards, the touchdown, and the pick. He was also sacked three times.
There is a very good chance that as the season grows older, Geno Smith gets the Raiders in a position to win games they shouldn't. He did the same thing with the Seattle Seahawks for three years.
Yet, at the end of the season, head coach Pete Carroll will find that his reunion with his former Seattle quarterback has ended up in the same position he had when both were with the Seahawks. Vegas might make a run at a surprising playoff spot, but they will fall short. Or get to the postseason, only to lose their first game once there.
