Arsenal have moved quickly to quash speculation linking Leandro Trossard with a shock move to Besiktas, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the Belgian forward will remain at the Emirates Stadium.
Reports in Turkey had suggested the Super Lig giants were preparing a €22 million bid before their transfer window closes on September 12.
But Romano took to X to set the record straight, insisting: “Arsenal are not planning for Leandro Trossard exit despite links with Besiktas move in the recent days. Trossard already agreed new deal at the club in August and move to Turkish Super Lig has no chance of happening now.”

The 30-year-old only signed a new contract with Arsenal last month, keeping him at the club until 2027 on improved terms. Since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion for £27 million in January 2023, Trossard has been a consistent contributor, racking up 28 goals and 23 assists in 125 appearances. Last season, he delivered eight goals and eight assists in 28 Premier League starts, underlining his importance to Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Despite the summer arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, Trossard’s versatility across the front line makes him a vital squad member.
Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith praised the club’s decision to keep him, telling Metro: “I would be tempted to keep Leandro Trossard because he’s a versatile player who’s done well and scored important goals. I don’t think you’d want to lose him.”

Arteta echoed that sentiment in August, highlighting how straightforward the contract talks had been. “That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him,” the Arsenal boss said.
“Leo was very clear from the beginning that he wanted to stay here, the club was very clear that they wanted Leo here, and I was very clear that I wanted him here. At the end, good outcome.”
Besiktas’ interest comes as they look to reinforce their attack following the departure of Semih Kilicsoy. But Arsenal remain focused on keeping their squad intact as they prepare for a demanding campaign across four competitions.
With a Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest looming after the international break, Trossard’s experience and cutting edge are set to play a crucial role.
